01. Introduction: Players and Objectives
Rummy 45 is a fun and strategic logic game typically played by 2–4 players. The goal is simple: lay down valid tile combinations to score as many points as possible and close the game.
How to Join a Game
To join a table, click the "Start" button. You can either enter a quick game with random players or create your own table using "Create New Table". If someone gives you a table code, you can enter it on the Start screen to join their table directly.
Game Set
A full game contains 106 tiles:
- 104 numbered tiles (1 to 13) in 4 colors (red, yellow, blue, black), two of each.
- 2 Joker tiles.
Each player gets a personal board to organize their tiles.
Extra Joker
Players can optionally use an extra Joker (if available in their account), increasing the total to 6 jokers and 110 tiles. Each player can use this only once per game.
Objective of Rummy 45
🎯 Create and lay down valid combinations of tiles (runs and sets) to get rid of all your tiles and score as many points as possible.
A game is considered "closed" when a player has only 1 tile left after laying down or merging combinations.
Initial meld requires a minimum of 45 points and at least one run.
Final goal:
- ✅ lay down efficiently,
- ✅ use jokers strategically
- ✅ and close the game before your opponents do.
02. Game Tiles and Distribution
Tiles are shuffled, turned face down, and stacked in groups of 7. One tile is turned face up and becomes the Trump. A stack corresponding to its value is selected and adjusted.
Distribution
- The first player receives 15 tiles; others get 14 each.
- In the online version, distribution is automatic.
Doubles and the Trump
Doubles cannot be exchanged. If a player has 3 or more doubles, they can decline the round. If they have the Trump tile on their board, they receive a 50-point bonus.
03. Rummy 45 Gameplay
The first player starts by discarding one tile. Each turn, a player draws a tile and discards one.
Valid Combinations
- Run: 3 or more consecutive tiles of the same color. E.g., 1-2-3 red.
- Set: 3–4 tiles of the same number in different colors. E.g., 8 red, 8 yellow, 8 blue.
Joker
The Joker replaces any tile. It can only be replaced with the original tile if the player has already melded.
Merging
After making your initial meld (minimum 45 points), you may add tiles to existing combinations. E.g., on 3-4-5 red, you can merge 2 or 6 red.
04. Scoring
| Tile Type | Points |
|---|---|
| 2 - 9 | 5 points |
| 10 - 13 | 10 points |
| 1 | 25 points |
| Joker | 50 points |
| Trump | 50 points |
| Closing | 50 points |
Note: Before the first meld, tile 1 and the Joker have special values:
Tile 1 in 1-2-3 = 5 points
Tile 1 in 1-1-1 = 25 points
Tile 1 in 12-13-1 = 10 points
After the first meld, all 1 tiles on the table are worth 25 points.
Before the first meld, a Joker takes the value of the tile it replaces. For example, in 10-Joker-12, the Joker is worth 10 points. In 2-Joker-4 or 3-Joker-3-3, it's 10 points as well. After the first meld, all Jokers are worth 50 points. If a Joker is replaced, it becomes an exposed Joker and takes the value of the tile it replaced.
Example of a minimum 45-point meld:
15 points
30 points
If no one closes and the tiles run out, all visible points on the board are counted.
05. Valid Board Examples
Sets:
E.g.: 7 red, 7 yellow, 7 blue
15 points
40 points
Runs:
E.g.: 4 blue, 5 blue, 6 blue
15 points
40 points
06. Disconnections
If you get disconnected due to a weak or unstable connection, you may lose the game in progress and automatically receive a 200-point penalty. Make sure your connection is stable before starting a game.
